What happens if this Kickstarter does not meet its goal?

As you already know, this Kickstarter is a mandate to gauge how much widespread demand exists for a new dub—it’s not just a fundraiser. If the project doesn’t meet its goal, Funimation will still create a release based on the materials we have access to. We still want to showcase the HD, but because the HD materials don’t match up with the current English dub, this will likely be a subtitled-only Blu-ray uncut version. Who are the voice actors for this new dub?

Will I have access to this dub on Funimation.com if I’m not a contributor?

Of course! If the project meets its goal, you’ll be able to buy the Escaflowne series and movie on Blu-ray or DVD once it’s released, or stream it with a FunimationNow subscription. The Collector’s Edition in the $175 and up tiers will also be available for purchase. There will also be digital video download options as well. Will you release the original dub separately?

The original dub episodes will be available as bonus DVDs in the Collector’s Edition on the $175 and up tiers (using the original SD materials rather than the uncut HD materials). As for a potential separate release, the answer is: possibly. All of our focus is on the new dub right now, so there are no plans to release the original dub. However, it may come at a future point. Why fund a dub through Kickstarter? Does Funimation not have the funds to create this dub?

Think of this Kickstarter as more of a way to gauge interest. Because Funimation doesn’t often go back and redub a series that was already on market, we want to know if there is demand for a new dub in the first place. Also, because this Kickstarter was inspired by an influx of fan comments, we want our fans to be more involved and share a dialogue with us, so we can better understand your preferences in a way that a traditional pre-order usually does not. Will you create Kickstarter projects for releases of other Funimation properties?

Will the Escaflowne movie be getting a new dub?

What countries do these rewards ship to? Will the releases be available outside of the United States and Canada?

Funimation only holds the rights to The Vision of Escaflowne in the United States and Canada, so we are unable to ship any rewards outside of these two countries. The retail releases of The Vision of Escaflowne will also only be available in these two countries. If you are overseas, please support your local official release! Will the English subtitle track on the release be locked to the English audio track?

Per agreement with our licensor, we are required to apply a stationary English subtitled track when the Japanese audio is selected on the Blu-ray discs. What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
